Occupation: Independent Education Consultant
Education and Qualifications: My husband Matt Lucksinger and I decided to move to South Lake Tahoe in 2014 excited to have our two young children enter the LTUSD – and are glad we did. With your support, I will serve the residents of Trustee Area #1 as member of the School Board. I will work together with the Board to ensure that all students grow in academic achievement and community mindedness and are ready for college and/or careers. My qualifications for the role include: a 20-year career in education; currently an independent education consultant, adjunct faculty member of Lake Tahoe Community College, and co-teacher at Tahoe Parents Nursery School; currently serve as member of the Sierra House Elementary PTA Board, a volunteer with the Warm Room, a performer with local music groups, and as a AYSO Soccer Coach; worked for over seven years as a classroom teacher and performing arts educator; earned a doctorate in educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Vermont; worked as a researcher and manager at McGraw-Hill Education; served as Assistant Director at the Nevada Department of Education and Director of Supports for Students for Smarter Balanced/University of California-Los Angeles.

LARRY REILLY 
Occupation: Retired Teacher
Education and Qualifications: I am interested in running for the LTUSD Board of Education to advocate for the students and community of South Lake Tahoe. I moved to the basin in 1980, taught secondary education and coached all levels of students on both sides of the state line. I recently retired from teaching after 39 years. As a lifetime educator, my vision is to provide a quality education for all students and am driven to continue serving K - 12 students, parents and educators of our community from a new perspective. If elected, I will draw on my successful classroom experience, open-minded approach, and passion for learning to promote equal opportunity for all students to attain competency in all academic areas and become responsible, contributing citizens in our society. I am supportive of the district-wide AVID program, the Two-Way Bilingual Immersion program, Career Technical Education, college preparation, athletics and student activities to promote an array of choices, lifelong learning and social education of the whole child. I intend to monitor the implementation of the mandated Common Core State Standards and strongly believe local control of education is essential in meeting the needs of our students and parents.

Educación y cualificaciones: Estoy interesado en presentarme como candidato para la Junta Educativa del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Lake Tahoe (Lake Tahoe Unified School District, LTUSD) para defender a los estudiantes y a la comunidad de South Lake Tahoe. Me mudé a la Cuenca en 1980, fui profesor de educación secundaria e instructor de estudiantes de todos los niveles en ambos lados de la frontera de estado. Acabo de jubilarme tras enseñar durante 39 años. Como educador de toda la vida, mi visión es brindar educación de alta calidad a todos los estudiantes y estoy determinado a continuar prestando servicios a los estudiantes desde jardín de infancia hasta el 12.º grado, a los padres y a los educadores de nuestra comunidad desde una nueva perspectiva. Si soy electo, haré uso de mi exitosa experiencia en el salón de clase, mi mentalidad abierta y mi pasión por el aprendizaje para promover la igualdad de oportunidades a fin de que todos los estudiantes alcancen las competencias en todas las áreas académicas y se conviertan en ciudadanos responsables que aporten a nuestra sociedad. MICHAEL DOYLE 
Occupation: Incumbent
Education and Qualifications: I have been raising a family and practicing pediatrics in South Lake Tahoe since 1993. After my election to the school board in 2007, I have been part of an effective TEAM that has helped to make great things happen at LTUSD. We have made tremendous improvements in the facilities. We have encouraged elementary schools to develop their own identities with families, staff, and administrators implementing the change. We have survived the era of No Child Left Behind and successfully transitioned to new mandates such as ESSA, CCSS, LCFF, and LCAP. I am proud to have been a member of a school board that has developed and maintained a cooperative and respectful relationship with the teachers and staff of our district. There will always be new challenges for our school district. As a parent of six current or former LTUSD students, and a pediatrician connected to hundreds more families, I am in a unique position to represent them and assure that LTUSD maintains its commitment to meeting the needs of all students. I would love to hear from you and continue to represent you on the LTUSD Governing Board. Please cast your vote for me this November.

Educación y cualificaciones: He estado criando una familia y ejerciendo la pediatría en South Lake Tahoe desde 1993. Tras haber sido electo para la junta escolar en 2007, he formado parte de un eficiente EQUIPO que ha ayudado a lograr cosas asombrosas en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Lake Tahoe (Lake Tahoe Unified School District, LTUSD). Hemos realizado mejoras extraordinarias en las instalaciones. Hemos alentado a las escuelas primarias a desarrollar sus propias identidades con la participación de las familias, el personal y los administradores en la implementación de este cambio.
