 Transitional Kindergarten at Tahoe Valley Elementary
A Strong Start for Young Learners...The California Kindergarten Readiness Act established a transitional kindergarten program for children who miss the cutoff birth date to enroll in kindergarten.  Transitional kindergarten is designed to build a bridge between early learning and kindergarten. This program provides time for younger students to engage in early academic learning experiences designed to promote success in kindergarten and beyond.  Transitional kindergarten is a part of the public school system and is free for families.

REGISTRATION FOR LAKE TAHOE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IS BEING HELD April 26th through May 14th, 2020 AT ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

To be eligible for Kindergarten enrollment a child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2021.  If your child will be five years of age between September 1, 2021 and December 2, 2021, they qualify for Transitional Kindergarten (TK); a two-year Kindergarten program located at Tahoe Valley Elementary School.

LTUSD is also offering an Early Entry TK program for students born between December 3, 2021 and March 31, 2022.  This optional program is only available as space is available in the TK program.  You can petition for entry into this program by contacting Tahoe Valley directly.

California Law requires that you bring the following:

  1. Child's birth certificate
  2. Proof of immunizations, which includes the Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B and for most children, the last booster shot.Children will not be enrolled in school without presenting an up-to-date immunization record.
  3. Health examination upon entry to school (schedule with your family Physician).
  4. Oral health examination upon entry to school (dental examinations that have occurred in the last 12 months meet this requirement).
  5. Proof of California residency (lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility statement, etc.)

ADDITIONAL KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION BY SCHOOL:

Bijou Community School Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Program Bijou is a multicultural school; a school that stresses the importance of building community and appreciating differences in culture. With academic excellence as a top priority, Bijou is interested in innovative and creative programs. Included in this list, is the Two-Way Immersion Program, Academic Adventures, and our After School Enrichment Clubs.Bijou has started taking names for the Fall '21 roster of Kindergarteners. Please email or drop off the Kindergarten Enrollment Request Form found on the school website (bijou.ltusd.org) to mubias@ltusd.org  by March March 19th. A virtual informational session will be held on Wednesday March 24th and the  lottery will be held on March 25th.

Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School LTESMS utilizes an Environmental Science focused curriculum that is project-based, thematic, interactive, and integrated in core subject areas through the grade levels to foster life-long stewardship of the environment and to assist students in achieving their maximum potential in their academic, social, and civic development. LTESMS has started taking names for the Fall '21 roster of Kindergarteners. Please email the "Kindergarten Enrollment Request Form" found on our school website (ltesms.ltusd.org) to mtruszewski@ltusd.org between Jan 4 and March 26.  The lottery is held each year on or around April 1st.

Sierra House Elementary Home of the Mountain Academy integrates education with an emphasis on Fitness, Health, Gardening and Mountain Sports. We connect kids to nature and the outdoors- including the most amazing classroom for learning: Lake Tahoe. Sierra House accepts enrollment from within the elementary school boundary area first, and then accepts enrollment outside the boundary on a first-come, first-served basis. Tahoe Valley Elementary School emphasizes learning experiences through the creative and performing arts. Students develop character, creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills, to become self-confident, motivated, caring, and socially conscious citizens. Tahoe Valley accepts enrollment from within the elementary school boundary area first, and then accepts enrollment outside the boundary on a first-come, first-served basis. Elevated Digital Learning Academy students receive live instruction from dedicated LTUSD teachers, using LTUSD curriculum. Elevated Digital Academy will operate five full days per week and will be open to Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Students will learn from home on a digital learning platform, using a District-issued device, with continuous access to their LTUSD Digital Academy resources, enrichment activities, and events.
