STANDARDS FOR TECHNOLOGY

Sixth Grade

Students demonstrate K-5 outcomes in addition to the following:

WritingGENERAL AWARENESS

Students:

  • understand the use of technology as a tool and can choose appropriate resources for assigned projects.
WritingPRINTING

Students:

  • can format documents and printer to print on different-sized paper.
WritingKEYBOARDING

Students:

  • keyboard at a rate of 40 wpm.
WORD PROCCESSING

Students:

  • can switch between two or more open programs.
  • can effectively use writing tools (e.g., spell check, thesaurus, etc.).
  • can move and copy text and graphics between two or more open programs.
  • can use headers and footers and include page numbers.
  • can insert a page break.
SPREADSHEET

Students:

  • can record and evaluate data using a spreadsheet.
  • can manipulate data in a spreadsheet using basic computation.
  • can create graphs using a spreadsheet.
BASIC GRAPHICS, PAINT, DRAW, AND MULTIMEDIA PROGRAMS

Students:

  • can create graphic organizers.
  • understand page layout techniques.
  • can create professional-looking publications using principles of graphic design.
  • can access and capture an image from a network source and integrate it into a multimedia project.
DATABASE

Students:

  • can create and link relational databases.
  • can store, cross-reference, and print data from a file.
  • can sort data by attribute.
