 Transitional Kindergarten at Tahoe Valley Elementary
A Strong Start for Young Learners...The California Kindergarten Readiness Act established a transitional kindergarten program for children who miss the cutoff birth date to enroll in kindergarten.  Transitional kindergarten is designed to build a bridge between early learning and kindergarten. This program provides time for younger students to engage in early academic learning experiences designed to promote success in kindergarten and beyond.  Transitional kindergarten is a part of the public school system and is free for families. 
YOUR CHILD IS ELIGIBLE FOR TK IF THEY TURN 5 YEARS OLD BETWEEN September 2, 2020 and December 2, 2020

This optional program is only available as space is available in the TK program.  You can petition for entry into this program by contacting Tahoe Valley directly.

April 13 through May 15th,  2020 AT ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

BEGIN BY REGISTERING YOUR KINDERGARTENER/TK ONLINE HERE 

Please bring the following documents with you to Kindergarten/TK Registration at your school site: 

1. Child's birth certificate
2.
Proof of immunizations, which includes the Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B and for most children, the last booster shot.  Children will not be enrolled in school without presenting an up-to-date immunization record.
3.
Health examination upon entry to school (schedule with your family Physician). English Form / Spanish Form
4.
Oral health examination (English Form / Spanish Form) upon entry to school (dental examinations that have occurred in the last 12 months meet this requirement).
5.
Proof of California residency (lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility statement, etc.) 


ADDITIONAL KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION BY SCHOOL:

Bijou Community School Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Program (a school-wide and district-wide Spanish Immersion program) is accepting 20/21 School Year Commitment Forms, due March 20, 2020 by 3:00pm. On March 25 there is a mandatory TWBI Informational Night at 6:00pm and then the lottery is held on March 26th. After the lottery draw, and a student is drawn, families are asked to commit to the program within one week so that their name may be removed from the LTESMS lottery (if they are in both lotteries). A wait list is created in the order in which names are drawn. Siblings of current students are automatically enrolled. For tours of the school, please call (530) 543-2337.

Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School (a school-wide and district-wide program) is taking names for the Fall ‘20 “line-up” of kindergartners. Please submit a “Kindergarten Enrollment Request Form” by Friday, March 27. (If your child turns 5 after Sept 1st, you may enroll in the Transitional Kinder program at Tahoe Valley School, but not at the LTESMS). You can find the form on the LTESMS website under "Forms" or come to the school office at 1095 East San Bernardino Avenue, South Lake Tahoe. For questions and to submit forms: mtruszewski@ltusd.org. Students who entered the Bijou lottery, but were not selected may remain in the LTESMS lottery pool. A wait list is created in the order in which names are drawn. Siblings of current students are automatically enrolled. Tour dates are Feb. 14 and 28; and March 13 and 27; at 10:00am.

Sierra House Elementary Home of the Mountain Academy integrates education with an emphasis on Fitness, Health, Gardening and Mountain Sports. Sierra House accepts enrollment from within the elementary school boundary area first, and then accepts enrollment outside the boundary on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours are Wednesdays at 10:00am.

Tahoe Valley Elementary School emphasizes learning experiences through the creative and performing arts. Tahoe Valley accepts enrollment from within the elementary school boundary area first, and then accepts enrollment outside the boundary on a first-come, first-served basis.
